I drank the Domaine Tempier 2013 recently and I was highly excited about it.
The usual Bandol is hardly accessible and will need a lot of time to reach the right maturity to be enjoyed without any restriction.
Not on this one!
The Bouquet opens up with some deep, meaty notes, juniper berries, violets, plums and slight earth as well as smoke.
On the palate, the wine has an excellent balance, is decently juicy and feels fresh, with medium+ density. Formidable texture and optimal acidity level with a salty character. Tannins are in a perfect shape to give the wine the optimal gripp.
Drink: now – 2028
Excellent! While the 2013 seemed a bit more dense, this vintage has shown to be more elegant and balanced as well as accessible.
A big wine in my opinion and something everyone that likes Bandol should drink. Could improve complexity with further cellaring, but drinks excellently right now.
Time to their single vineyards!
