(EN/DE) Berardo Chianti Classico Riserva 2009 -Castello di Bossi (100 % Sangiovese)

Today I tasted another great Chianti Classico. I am a big fan of good Chianti, because they can be complex, fruity and very elegant at the same time.

Bouquet shows complex and fine with sour cherries, blackberries, forest leaf, earth, violets, tobacco and some very, very slight toast and cooked red fruits.

On the palate, the wine shows an outstanding crisp with a lot of chewy tannins and medium density. The acidity is on the point, dry and the fruits aromas are melting very slowly on the palate, which will lead to a very long persistence.

The finish shows long with a very nice combination of the fruits from the palate and the toast, red pepper, earth and vanilla at the very end.

Overall impression: 5,5/7

Score: 16 / 20 – 92 / 100 very good (+)

Forecast: seems to be still young an closed. I would wait 2 more years for the wine to open up. I think it would gain in complexity and will have softer tannin.

Drink: 2018 – 2025 (optimal)

Price: ~27,00 € – 2,5 / 5 average

Conclusion: 

This is the more complex version of the Chianti I tasted before. It has more deepness and is a little more traditional in style, but also a little bit more heavy.

What I really appreciated, was the elegance on the palate and the way the aromas very slowly melt down and keep stacked on it. This is not a wine, that you must take a nip every 2 seconds to remember what it tasted like – nope!

If you like complex and highly elegant and structured wines, that aren’t a big fruit and marmalade bomb, this is for you! Might not be liked by people who have only little experience with red wines.

Ich bin ein großer Fan von guten Chianti! Es gibt viele Kandidaten, die nur mäßig sind, aber, wenn man einen guten im Glas hat, dann erhält man einen fruchtigen, mineralischen und sehr eleganten Wein!

Das Bouquet wirkt sehr fein, vordergründig mit sauren Kirschen und Brombeeren. Hinzu kommen getrocknete Waldblätter, Erde sowie Tabak. Der Toast und gekochte rote Früchte kommen ganz zum Schluss und geben noch den letzten Schliff.

Am Gaumen zeigt der Wein eine mittlere+ Intensität, mit viel Biss, Substanz und haftenden Tanninen. Die Fruchtaromen klemmen sich sehr lange am Gaumen und schmelzen ganz langsam dahin, was für eine sehr gute Persistenz sorgt.

Das Finale zeigt sich erstaunlich lang mit einem interessanten Mix aus Frucht, roter Paprika, Erde und Vanille zum Schluss.

Allgemeiner Eindruck: 5,5/7

Punkte: 16 / 20 – 92 / 100 sehr gut

Prognose: In meinen Augen noch jung. Ich würde ihm noch 2 Jahre geben, was dem Bouquet und den Tanninen sehr zuträglich wäre.

Preis: ~28,00 € – 2,5 / 5 durchschnittlich

Fazit:

Ein deutlich komplexerer und klassischerer Chianti, als zuletzt degustierte (den ich auch mit 92 Punkten bewertet habe).
 
Was mir sehr gut gefallen hat, war die Elegant und diese extreme Persistenz am Gaumen. Selten einen Wein im Glas gehabt, der die Aromen so lange hält und langsam schmelzen lässt. Hier muss man nicht alle zwei Sekunden nachtrinken, damit man sich an den Wein erinnert – im Gegenteil.
 
Meine Bewertung bezieht sich auf den aktuellen Zustand des Weines. Ich denke, dass er Potenzial besitzt und auf jeden Fall 1-2 weitere Punkte drin sind.
 
Wer Weine mit großer Struktur und Eleganz, sowie Potenzial mag, kann hier zugreifen. Er könnte allerdings Personen, die nicht sehr oft Rotweine trinken deutlich weniger gefallen, also besser für Liebhaber geeignet 🙂
